Travelex Signs Exclusive Foreign Exchange Partnership with Munich Airport

Travelex has been appointed as the exclusive foreign exchange provider at Munich Airport's newly opened Terminal 1E, expanding its presence in Germany significantly.

Travelex has been chosen as the exclusive foreign exchange provider at Munich Airport’s newly opened Terminal 1E, a development marking a significant growth opportunity for the company in Germany. The terminal, which cost €665 million, opened on April 21, is projected to manage up to six million long-haul passengers each year, accommodating approximately 40 airlines.

The five-year agreement permits Travelex to establish two new outlets—one airside and one landside—alongside five ATMs located at the non-Schengen pier. Leonard Stolk, Managing Director for Europe at Travelex, remarked, “We’re thrilled to be chosen as the leading travel money partner to enter Munich Airport, building on our rich history in Germany that spans over three decades.”

In its busiest year since the COVID-19 pandemic, Munich Airport welcomed 43.4 million passengers in 2025, serving as a key entry point for one in every five air travelers to Germany.

The new Travelex stores will provide over 50 currencies available for purchase on travel days and facilitate tax refund services. Customers can also pick up pre-ordered cash through the Travelex website. This expansion strengthens Travelex’s footprint in Germany, where it operates across five of the six busiest airports, including those in Frankfurt, Berlin Brandenburg, and Hamburg.

Travelex’s ongoing growth in Germany affirms its commitment to delivering accessible and secure travel money solutions, enhancing the overall passenger experience at major international airports.
