IAPCO Reestablishes Ties with Rwanda Convention Bureau
IAPCO and Rwanda Convention Bureau reaffirm their partnership to enhance collaboration in the meetings industry.
The International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO) has embraced the Rwanda Convention Bureau (RCB) as a Destination Partner once again, expanding its global network of convention bureaux. This partnership emphasizes international collaboration and aims to enhance the meetings and events sector throughout Africa.
This renewed association highlights Rwanda’s commitment to international cooperation and the enhancement of its meetings industry. It is anticipated that this collaboration will improve Rwanda’s competitiveness to host bids while providing access to vital global networks, creating long-term economic benefits. Strategically located in Africa, Rwanda ranks third for meetings destinations on the continent, with its capital, Kigali, coming in second according to ICCA 2024.
Sissi Lignou, President of IAPCO, expressed her excitement about the partnership, noting, “We are delighted to welcome Rwanda Convention Bureau back to the IAPCO Destination Partner community. Rwanda continues to demonstrate strong ambition and capability as a global meetings destination.” Janet Karemera, CEO of RCB, echoed her sentiment, underlining the partnership’s importance in enhancing Rwanda’s global visibility and offering opportunities for local Professional Conference Organisers.
Established to position Rwanda as a premier destination for business events, the Rwanda Convention Bureau plays a pivotal role supporting international congresses. The partnership is expected to elevate Rwanda’s prominence and draw events that yield economic value and foster knowledge exchange. The IAPCO Destination Partnership Programme, created in 2013, unites leading convention bureaux globally to drive advancement in the international meetings industry.
