Milestone Celebration for Hong Kong's Filipino Visitors

Hong Kong commemorates its one millionth visitor from the Philippines with a grand event, highlighting its attractions and commitment to Filipino travelers.

As Hong Kong marked the achievement of welcoming its one millionth visitor from the Philippines last November, a special dinner hosted by the Hong Kong Tourism Board was held at Shangri-La at the Fort, Bonifacio Global City on February 5.

The event, dubbed Juan in a Million, gathered partners and collaborators to celebrate Hong Kong’s charm and commitment to delivering unique experiences.

Executive Director Dane Cheng stated: > “Thanks to the collective efforts of our partners, we are proud to announce that we have not only reached the historical milestone of receiving 1 million Filipino visitors but have also surpassed previous arrival numbers with a record 1.2 million arrivals in a year from the Philippines. This is a remarkable achievement!”

Cheng expressed the HKTB’s commitment to giving visitors ample reasons to discover Hong Kong, enhancing its bond with Filipino travelers.

Breaking Records and Winning Hearts

In 2024, Hong Kong enjoyed record visitor numbers due to innovative marketing strategies targeting Filipino travelers. Campaigns featuring celebrities, such as the film “Under Parallel Skies” with Janella Salvador, and the romantic music video “Be With U” starring KD Estrada captured the attention of the audience, promoting Hong Kong as an ideal destination for love and adventure.

Gastronomic collaborations, including the Four Hands Dinner with chefs Margarita Forés and Vicky Cheng, showcased the city’s flavors and served as a precursor to the renowned Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival.

HKTB also revealed hidden gems of Hong Kong through the Of Course, Hong Kong video series featuring four Filipino residents. These strategies, along with world-class attractions, have bolstered Hong Kong’s reputation as Asia’s World City.

Looking ahead, HKTB aims to continue creating thrilling experiences for travelers in 2025, underscoring its proactive approach in maintaining Hong Kong’s appeal as a dynamic global destination.
