Costa del Sol Tourism Showcases Hiking and Active Tourism at the Salon du Randonneur in Lyon

Costa del Sol actively promotes itself as an ideal destination for hiking and outdoor tourism at a major European fair.

Turismo Costa del Sol participated in the Salon du Randonneur, held in Lyon, the largest hiking fair in France and one of the most significant in Europe, promoting the destination for active and nature tourism. The event attracted a specialized audience interested in outdoor experiences, and the Malaga presence aimed to increase visibility for Costa del Sol as a hiking and cycling tourism destination outside the peak tourist months.

During the fair, the destination showcased its own promotional materials focused on hiking and active tourism. Notable new offerings included specialized maps and other informational resources aimed at this segment. QR codes were also provided for visitors to access digital content related to hiking projects, the Coastal Path, Caminito del Rey, and e-book contents.

Participation in the Salon du Randonneur allowed for direct presentation of Costa del Sol’s offerings to an audience keen on nature and outdoor sports experiences. This initiative sparked notable interest in off-season offerings, highlighting air connectivity, climate, cultural attractions, and gastronomy as significant points of interest for attendees.

This promotional campaign aligns with the strategy to position Costa del Sol as a year-round destination for hiking and active tourism beyond peak tourist influxes. Director General of Turismo Costa del Sol, Antonio Díaz, emphasized the importance of such actions: “Participating in specialized fairs enables us to showcase the destination’s offerings in segments like hiking and active tourism.” Díaz noted that interest in Costa del Sol at such events is growing, driven by factors like air connectivity, climate, and cultural and culinary offerings.

In the context of international presence, Costa del Sol was accompanied by the municipalities of Antequera and Torremolinos, enhancing the region’s visibility within this forum and facilitating a collective view of Andalusia’s tourism offerings in the active tourism segment. These initiatives contribute to greater visibility for Costa del Sol in European markets and bolster its positioning as a reference destination for hiking, cycling tourism, and nature and culture experiences throughout the year.
