The 20th Guizhou Tourism Industry Development Conference occurred in Guiyang on March 30, showcasing enhancements in smart tourism and artificial intelligence. The event’s opening ceremony took place at Drum Tower Square in Colourful Guizhou, unveiling new characters from the Huangxiaoxi mascot family and promoting the “stub economy,” a ticket-stub reward initiative, while highlighting the Cool Guiyang Top 10 New Scenic Spots.
Fifteen international media professionals and content creators participated in the conference as part of the 2026 China Storyteller Partnerships. From March 27 to 31, they visited attractions including Fanjing Mountain and the Zhongnanmen Historical and Cultural Tourist Area, contributing a fresh perspective to Guizhou’s tourism narrative.
To position Guizhou as a preeminent national tourism destination, ten provincial departments, including the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, have enacted measures to support tourism-related residential development. These measures encompass land supply, asset revitalization, financial support, and standardized operations. Guidelines are being developed to ensure consistent construction standards focusing on environmental livability and green, low-carbon development.
Guizhou’s tourism-related residential sector is transitioning toward an integrated model for development, services, and operations, aimed at improving product quality, expanding clientele, and fostering professional operators. The province’s pleasant summer climate, rich cultural heritage, and robust infrastructure, including 1,900 kilometers of high-speed rail, render it an appealing destination for health and wellness tourism.
The 2026 Guizhou Tourism and Residence Research Report suggests that China’s tourism-residence sector is set for rapid expansion. Guizhou’s valuable natural resources and solid industrial foundation position it favorably to capitalize on this trend, bolstered by supportive government initiatives and increasing tourism demand.
