
The 2026 East Midlands Tourism Awards, hosted at Derby County Football Club’s Pride Park Stadium, celebrated significant contributions to the tourism sector in the region. This event, part of English Tourism Week, welcomed industry leaders and innovators to honor excellence across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, and the wider area.
Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward, praised the winners and finalists, commenting, “Their hard work, creativity, and passion not only attract visitors from far and wide, but also support local jobs, businesses, and communities.” Tourism plays a vital role in the East Midlands economy, contributing $5.25 billion (£5.25 billion) in 2024-5 and sustaining thousands of jobs.
The awards recognized a variety of businesses, from accommodation providers to restaurants and attractions, in collaboration with regional partners like Visit Nottinghamshire and Visit Peak District, Derbyshire, and Derby. Megan Powell Vreeswijk, CEO of Visit Nottinghamshire, pointed out the sector’s economic influence, stating it supports 22,500 jobs and generates $2.53 billion (£2.53 billion) annually.
Jo Dilley, managing director of Visit Peak District & Derbyshire, highlighted the event’s cooperative spirit, which showcases the region’s tourism strength. Gold winners from key categories will move on to the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, further shining a spotlight on the East Midlands’ tourism successes.
