Marbella will be the venue for the IV Schuster & Friends Tournament taking place from June 4 to 6. This event, which is a notable charity initiative championed by former footballer and coach Bernd Schuster, has solidified itself as one of the most significant social and sporting events for amateur golf in Spain after three successful editions. The tournament will be held at the Marbella Santa Clara Golf club and is supported by the town halls of Marbella and Mijas, as well as the Provincial Council of Málaga.
For the first time, this event will take place in Andalusia, gathering numerous figures from the sports world, along with social, cultural, media, and political representatives, in a gathering that mixes sports, community, and solidarity.
Schuster shared that the project was initiated three years ago to bring friends together for a weekend of golf after the pandemic. The first tournaments were held in Salamanca, and moving the competition to the Costa del Sol marks a qualitative leap for the project. He noted the enthusiastic response from participants: “When we told them the tournament would take place in Marbella, everyone reacted with excitement. The Costa del Sol has a special light, and everyone is delighted to come.”
He also expressed confidence in the institutional support and future continuity of the tournament: “We are convinced that everything will go very well and that if our expectations are met, we will continue to grow and consolidate this tournament in the coming years.”
The tournament will feature 80 players and around 150 guests. Participants will compete at Marbella Santa Clara Golf, while guests will stay at the La Zambra Resort in Mijas. Designed to bring together players, guests, and celebrities from the sporting and media worlds, Schuster & Friends is characterized by its spirit of camaraderie, experienced with enthusiasm and respect in an environment that promotes community and shared enjoyment of golf. Beyond the competition, the event aims to foster relationships and create new ties among participants, with social activities, prizes, and experiences accompanying the sports day. A charity auction will also be held on the final day, benefiting local associations.
