Indonesia Tourism Xchange Set to Launch in May 2026

The inaugural Indonesia Tourism Xchange will gather industry leaders to discuss the evolving tourism landscape in Indonesia.

The first-ever Indonesia Tourism Xchange (ITX 2026) is set to launch at The Langham, Jakarta on May 12, uniting hotel owners, operators, investors, and key decision-makers from across Indonesia.

ITX 2026 aims to analyze the driving forces impacting the country’s tourism sector during a period of renewed growth and increasing complexity. Designed to reflect the unique realities of Indonesia’s tourism—from its vastness and cultural richness to its multitude of destinations—this event will tackle the evolving needs of travelers, brands, and investment.

As the tourism sector matures, with a shift towards nuanced and experience-driven luxury, ITX 2026 will serve as an annual forum providing insights into performance, capital, and brand strategies specific to one of Asia’s most intricate travel markets.

The event is orchestrated by Horwath HTL, C9 Hotelworks, STR, QUO Global, Greenview, and Delivering Asia, with support from Langham Hospitality Group, Jakarta Hotels Association, PHRI Indonesia, and Bali Hotels Association.

Key Highlights:

  • The programme will encompass various hospitality aspects including luxury, performance, investment, technology, sustainability, and emerging development trends.
  • It will begin with an evaluation of Indonesia’s investment climate and tourism outlook for 2026 to set the stage for further discussions.

Keynote speaker Sherona Shng emphasizes the importance of

  • cultural understanding and personalization in creating truly luxurious experiences in Indonesia, stating:

“Luxury travellers coming to Indonesia are not looking for replicas of global hotels. They are seeking meaning, context, and a sense of place.”

Discussion on Hotel Performance:

  • Expect intensive analysis of hotel trading metrics, particularly in urban and resort markets, looking at the performance of upscale and luxury properties.

Matt Gebbie will discuss growth opportunities and necessary cautious approaches in the hospitality sector, emphasizing:

“Indonesia’s opportunity is not simply growth: it is smart growth.”

The summit will also cover changing ownership models and development strategies and will host focused discussions on branded residences in Indonesia, highlighting their growing significance in the luxury real estate market.

Overall, the ITX 2026 program aims to present a departure from existing development norms towards more contextual, resilient hospitality frameworks that honor Indonesia’s unique cultural and geographic context.
