Bridges Air Cargo Unveils First Embraer E-Freighter
Bridges Air Cargo has successfully initiated operations with its first Embraer E-Freighter, marking a pivotal development in air cargo logistics.
Bridges Air Cargo has commenced operations with its first Embraer E-Freighter, marking a significant milestone in air cargo transport. The inaugural commercial flight took off from Cologne, Germany, and landed in Larnaca, Cyprus, carrying time-sensitive express materials. This new aircraft will serve Bridges Worldwide, providing network solutions for the express industry across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
The launch of the Embraer 190 freighter is a result of a year-long development process, including the creation of a bespoke container and handling systems. Guy Bridges, CEO of the Bridges Group, expressed gratitude to Embraer and Regional One for their support, stating that the E190F will play a crucial role in providing network solutions with a capacity of 8-12 tonnes.
George Mamangakis, Chief Investment Officer of Regional One, highlighted the importance of this milestone for the E-Freighter programme, praising the partnership between Embraer, Bridges Air Cargo, and Regional One. He noted that the successful first flight reinforces confidence in the E190F platform’s ability to deliver effective solutions across the EMEA region.
The E190F was developed to meet the evolving demands of e-commerce and modern trade, offering over 40% more volume capacity and up to 30% lower operating costs compared to larger narrowbodies. This innovation aims to replace older, less efficient models, enhancing the efficiency of air cargo operations.
As the E-Freighter programme continues to mature, Embraer remains committed to supporting Bridges Air Cargo’s operations, ensuring high performance and reliability in the cargo market.
