Patiño Golf Resort Secures Arcos Garden for Luxury Golf Course Development

Felipe Ortiz Patiño reveals plans to transform Arcos Garden into a premier golf destination in Europe.

Felipe Ortiz Patiño, son of the founder of the Valderrama Golf Club and crucial in organizing the 1997 Ryder Cup and various world golf championships, has purchased the Arcos de la Frontera golf course. His ambition is to renovate it into one of Europe’s premier golfing destinations. This project, spearheaded by Patiño Resorts S.A., aims to modernize the course while promoting a world-class sports complex and rejuvenating tourism and residential development in the area.

Arcos Garden. Arcos de la Frontera

During the project’s announcement in Arcos, Felipe Ortiz Patiño was joined by lawyer Ramón Dávila and local officials, including the mayor and the tourism councillor, to formally advance the course’s expansion and the establishment of an international sports complex. Integrated within the vision of the Patiño Golf Resort project, this initiative seeks to elevate Arcos Garden to a first-rate resort, leveraging the legacy and reputation of Valderrama.

The renovation plan also encompasses upgrades to the hotel’s and residential facilities, with nearly complete development. Future offerings will include a historic Andalusian farmhouse, dining establishments, and event spaces. Additionally, there are intentions to establish a luxury beach club on adjacent shores and equestrian zones, enhancing the area’s appeal as a sports tourism hotspot.

Overview of Arcos Garden

This endeavor aims to position the Arcos region as a pivotal tourist and sports center, capitalizing on regional transport links, including proximity to the Jerez de la Frontera airport, and accessibility to Seville, Malaga, and Gibraltar. The Patiño Golf Resort project will not only highlight sporting potential but will also sustainably rejuvenate urban areas, prioritizing a balanced blend of tourism, sports, and residential growth.

Arcos de la Frontera

On the international stage, this project contributes to the strategy for establishing Arcos and Cádiz as prime tourist destinations, bolstered by the recognition of Jerez. Recently, Cadiz province was featured by the New York Times as one of the 52 most desirable destinations globally. Moreover, Jerez has been lauded as the gastronomic capital of Spain in 2026. The region, with its excellent beaches and the Sierra de Cádiz mountains, provides an extraordinary environment for leisure, cultural, and sports tourism.
