Patiño Golf Resort Plans to Transform Arcos Garden into a Premier Golf Course

Patiño Golf Resort has acquired Arcos Garden with ambitions to reform it into one of the top golf destinations in Europe.

Felipe Ortiz Patiño, the son of the founder of Valderrama Golf Club and a key figure in organizing the 1997 Ryder Cup, has acquired the golf course at Arcos de la Frontera. His goal is to renovate it and turn it into one of Europe’s premier golf courses. This development, promoted by Patiño Resorts S.A., aims to modernize the course while enhancing a world-class sports complex and revitalizing tourism and residential development in the area.

In the recent project presentation held in Arcos, Patiño was joined by lawyer Ramón Dávila and local officials, including the mayor and the tourism councilor, to formalize plans for expanding the course and creating an international sports complex. This initiative is part of the Patiño Golf Resort by Valderrama Investment plan, which seeks to elevate Arcos Garden into a top-tier resort by leveraging Valderrama’s reputation and expertise.

The project includes not only course renovations but also improvements to hotel and residential infrastructure, with a nearly completed urbanization and the possibility of increasing tourist offerings through a century-old Andalusian farmhouse, restaurants, and event spaces. Plans also include creating a luxury Beach Club at nearby beaches and areas for equestrian activities, alongside complementary infrastructure to make the resort a hub for international sports tourism.

This initiative aims to position the Arcos area as a globally recognized tourist and sports center, supported by regional connectivity via Jerez de la Frontera’s international airport and accessibility to Sevilla, Málaga, and Gibraltar. The Patiño Golf Resort project focuses on promoting sustained urban development and planning that integrates tourism, sports, and residential growth.

On an international scale, the project is integrated into a strategy to position Arcos and Cádiz as reference destinations, bolstered by Jerez’s recent inclusion among the New York Times’ 52 places to visit worldwide. The region, with high-quality beaches such as Sanlúcar, Rota, Chipiona, and Cádiz, along with the Sierra de Cádiz and its natural parks close by, presents a prime environment for leisure, cultural, and sports tourism.
