RIU Hotels & Resorts has announced the launch of two significant social projects in the Caribbean, focusing on child protection and education. These initiatives are set in Nassau, Bahamas, and Montego Bay, Jamaica, aiming to benefit over 280 children and young people.

In the Bahamas, RIU has partnered with Lend a Hand Bahamas, marking its first social collaboration in the region. The project, based at the Grants Town community centre in Nassau, is committed to a three-year program designed to transform the futures of more than 200 children aged 5 to 18. The initiative includes extracurricular activities focusing on literacy, STEM education, socioemotional workshops, and culinary arts.

Simultaneously, in Jamaica, RIU has reinforced its support for the Wested Educational Centre in Montego Bay. This project provides comprehensive academic support to 77 students from over 12 schools, integrating reading, maths, and a crucial nutrition component that offers daily meals. Additionally, a digital learning element has been introduced to modernise the educational process, utilising tablets and technological tools.

Despite challenges such as Hurricane Melissa, the centre in Jamaica has resumed activities, ensuring a safe environment for students. These efforts are part of the RIU Method, a social investment system prioritising health, education, and child protection projects. With these new initiatives, RIU strengthens its commitment to creating a positive impact in the Caribbean community, adding to its global network of over 90 partner organisations.
