Himalayan O₂ Festival Set to Revitalize Tehri Lake in 2026

Uttarakhand's youngest festival promises a vibrant blend of adventure, culture, and music at Tehri Lake.

Uttarakhand’s largest youth-led festival, Himalayan O₂ – The Tehri Lake Festival, is scheduled for March 6-9, 2026. Organized by the district administration of Tehri Garhwal in partnership with the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board, the festival will feature a blend of adventure sports, arts, culture, and music. Notable performances will come from bands like Pandavas and Amit Trivedi.

The theme this year is “Freedom in the Mountains,” aiming to showcase the area’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. Nitika Khandelwal, the District Magistrate, stated,

“This year, the four-day Tehri Lake Festival will not be limited to just Tehri Lake, but activities will also be organized at main tourist destinations of the district.”
(Translation: This year, activities will extend beyond the lake to key tourist attractions in the area.)

The event will include a photography competition, a culinary showcase titled Master Chef Tehri, and a variety of artistic contests like painting and fashion shows. Adventure seekers can look forward to trekking, paragliding, and mountain biking. Cultural exhibitions will highlight initiatives such as “Save Ganga” through showcase and devotional events.

Participants can sign up for competitions and workshops, with top performers awarded up to $1,200 (₹1,00,000) and unique experiences. This festival emphasizes sustainable tourism and celebrates the spirit of the Himalayas. For further details, check the official festival website.
