
Walk Japan Launches East Hokkaido Trek for Hiking Enthusiasts
Walk Japan introduces a guided trek through the scenic East Hokkaido region, catering to experienced hikers with diverse terrains and local cuisine.
Walk Japan has announced the launch of its East Hokkaido Trek, a 9-day, 8-night guided tour tailored for seasoned hikers. This new adventure immerses participants in the breathtaking and remote landscapes of eastern Hokkaido, following sections of the 410km Hokkaido East Trail. The trek begins in Kushiro and concludes in Memanbetsu, with planned departures in June, July, September, and October.
The East Hokkaido Trek features daily walks ranging from 11 to 18 km, covering three national parks while exploring diverse terrains, including wetlands, crater lakes, and low mountain passes. Notable highlights involve the Ramsar-registered Kushiro Shitsugen wetlands, the active volcano Atosa-Nupuri, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Shiretoko Peninsula. Participants can anticipate indulging in Hokkaido’s famous cuisine and relaxing in onsen baths.
This fully guided tour accommodates a maximum of 12 individuals, ensuring an intimate experience. Prices commence at approximately $4,700 (£3,830) per person, based on double occupancy.
