Akasa Air Expands Fleet with New Boeing 737 MAX Aircraft

Akasa Air, India's rapidly growing airline, has welcomed its 33rd aircraft, marking a significant step in its fleet expansion strategy.

Akasa Air, India’s fastest-growing airline, has taken delivery of its 33rd aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX 8-200, marking its second fleet addition since January 2026. The aircraft, operated by an all-women pilot crew, Captain Svetlana Pereira and First Officer Karen Noronha, completed its journey from Seattle, USA, to Bengaluru, India, with stops in Keflavik, Iceland, and Larnaca, Cyprus. The plane, registered as VT-YBM, arrived at Kempegowda International Airport on 4 February 2026.

This latest addition underscores Akasa Air’s rapid expansion in the Indian aviation sector. The airline’s growth strategy focuses on aligning fleet expansion with network and operational readiness, aiming to become one of the top 30 airlines globally by the end of the decade. The new aircraft is equipped with Safran Z200 seats, offering enhanced passenger comfort with features like improved recline and integrated USB charging ports.

Since its launch in August 2022, Akasa Air has consistently scaled its operations, placing a firm order for 226 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. With 193 more aircraft scheduled for delivery over the next six years, the airline is poised to meet India’s burgeoning travel demand. Akasa Air currently serves 26 domestic and six international destinations, reinforcing its commitment to providing reliable and efficient service.
