Luxury Reimagined: Emirates’ Iconic Wolgan Valley Resort to Launch as the First Ritz-Carlton Lodge

After a significant renovation, Emirates Wolgan Valley is set to reopen as a Ritz-Carlton Lodge, blending luxury and sustainability.

After three years away, Emirates Wolgan Valley — one of Australia’s most iconic eco-retreats — is making a much-anticipated return, rebranded as Emirates Wolgan Valley, a Ritz-Carlton Lodge. Located in the breathtaking Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage area, this lodge will be the world’s inaugural Ritz-Carlton Lodge.

This reopening signifies a commitment to luxury intertwined with sustainability, backed by a substantial $50 million renovation on top of the $150 million previously invested in the property since its original launch in 2009.

A New Era for Wolgan Valley

The resort, once renowned for its conservation-centric hospitality, had closed in 2023 due to access issues, creating a noticeable absence in the luxury travel landscape of Australia.

Emirates has unveiled plans for 40 standalone lodges, each designed with private pools and sustainable materials that celebrate the heritage and beauty of the region.

A Vision of Luxury with Purpose

During the launch event held at the Sydney Opera House, Emirates Airline President Sir Tim Clark emphasized the lodge’s role as an economic and environmental driver for the region, stating that it will attract travelers eager to connect with nature while boosting local economies.

“For us, Emirates Wolgan Valley, a Ritz-Carlton Lodge will not only be an extraordinary resort appealing to discerning travellers seeking to be close to nature, but also a powerful engine for local economic growth,” Clark shared.

Guests can expect an eco-conscious ambiance that complements Ritz-Carlton’s legendary service, ensuring a luxurious yet authentic experience that prioritizes wellness and environmental integrity.

Commitment to Conservation and Community

Rajeev Menon, President of Marriott International for Asia Pacific, emphasized that the resort’s mission goes beyond merely providing luxurious accommodations; it aims to be responsible stewards of the environment.

With locally sourced ingredients and partnerships with regional suppliers, the lodge aims to incorporate regenerative tourism practices while creating job opportunities in the Lithgow region.

What Guests Can Expect

Adventurers are offered the choice of arriving via 4WD vehicles or even helipads for a spectacular entrance. Amenities will include restored heritage buildings, a high-end spa, horseback riding, a naturalist center, and unique experiences like guided wilderness sleep-outs.

Every day at the lodge promises a mix of adventure and well-being, promoting Wolgan Valley as the premier destination for those seeking meaningful luxury in Australia.
