Travel Agents Advised to Embrace Trends for 2026

As the travel sector gears up for the 2026 summer season, it's crucial for agents to adapt to changing trends and enhance their services.

As travellers gear up for the 2026 summer season, Mozio, an airport transfer booking system, has teamed up with travel experts to offer crucial advice for both travel agents and holidaymakers.

Nicole Kerr, CEO at Mozio, emphasises the importance of booking holiday extras like airport transfers through travel agents to ensure safety and reliability. She notes that using platforms that offer vetted drivers can prevent unexpected high charges for airport taxis.

Laura Carden-Lovell, Head of Operations at Transfer Travel, highlights a common pitfall: travellers often chase seemingly low prices without understanding the full context. She warns that promotional periods can create a false sense of urgency, leading to inflated prices. Carden-Lovell advises travellers to set up price alerts and compare historic prices to avoid overpaying.

Carden-Lovell also dispels myths about booking hacks, stating that demand, not browsing behaviour, drives pricing. She suggests practical strategies like using price alerts, checking historic prices, and considering alternative travel routes to find savings. Additionally, she advises factoring in hidden costs such as baggage fees when booking with budget airlines.

Recent trends show a shift towards experience-focused travel, particularly among younger travellers influenced by social media. Carden-Lovell notes a growing interest in sustainable and flexible travel options, with resale travel offering significant savings.

Looking ahead to 2026, Carden-Lovell advises travel agents to prepare clients for new complexities, including the EU’s Entry/Exit System and rising tourist taxes. She stresses the importance of researching documentation and local regulations to avoid unexpected issues during travel.
