
Duetto Appoints Robert Matsuoka as New Chief Technology Officer
Robert Matsuoka is set to lead technology advancements at Duetto, enhancing customer experiences through AI.
Hospitality revenue and property management software provider Duetto announced the appointment of Robert Matsuoka as its new Chief Technology Officer on Tuesday, January 27th.
Matsuoka is a seminal AI thinker and technical leader with over 25 years of experience scaling systems and teams, and building travel tech. He joins Duetto to spearhead technology transformation across the company, from increasing delivery speeds for customers to managing the technical foundation for the Revenue & Profit Operating System (RP-OS).
Duetto CEO Alex Zoghlin remarked on Matsuoka’s potential impact, stating, “Robert’s expertise in AI could significantly enhance our customers’ experience and propel the industry forward as we build the first RP-OS. His extensive technical proficiency, alongside his experience in managing large data sets at Tripadvisor, makes him an extraordinary leader who can turn AI advantages into practical applications for our clients.”
Building from the Ground Up
Matsuoka has a rich history of building technology, having co-founded and served as CTO at Citymaps, where he developed systems to process vast amounts of location data, directly applicable to hotel market intelligence and pricing strategies at Duetto. After Citymaps was acquired by Tripadvisor in 2016, he spent eight years with the travel giant, ultimately becoming head of engineering and interim CTO, where he oversaw the technical strategy for their Hotel Business Unit.
In his new role, Matsuoka aims to tackle the challenges facing hoteliers in a high-cost market, seeing it as an opportunity for technological innovation. He states, “The core commercial needs of hotels, such as revenue optimization, demand forecasting, and yield management are fundamentally algorithmic. There’s plenty of scope to enhance these systems with AI and machine learning.”
In this position, he will prioritize making impactful changes through AI, such as speeding up client onboarding processes, expanding Duetto’s integration capabilities, and developing next-generation pricing models.
