Celebration of First Graduates from Sun Siyam Apprenticeship Program

Sun Siyam marks a significant achievement with the graduation of its first group of apprentices, aimed at enhancing career opportunities for local youth in the Maldives.

Sun Siyam has celebrated a vital milestone in youth development with the graduation of its inaugural cohort from the Sun Siyam Apprenticeship Programme at Siyam World Maldives. This ceremony marked the successful completion of the program by eight apprentices trained across various disciplines such as Culinary, Engineering, Finance, Information Technology, and Dive and Recreation.

The event, attended by officials from the Ministry of Higher Education, showcased the partnership between public and private sectors in creating sustainable job opportunities for young Maldivians. Keynote speakers, State Minister Fathimath Mohamed and Resort Manager Ausy Waseem, emphasized the significance of practical education and mentorship in the hospitality sector.

Launched in July 2025, the Sun Siyam Apprenticeship Programme is part of the SAILS Project, a World Bank-funded initiative to enhance skills development and youth employability in the Maldives. This six-month program combines hands-on training with professional mentorship.

Resort Manager Ausy Waseem stated, > “This programme is more than just training. It’s about giving young Maldivians the confidence to believe in themselves, the skills to stand tall in the industry, and the courage to dream bigger about their future.”

The graduation affirms Sun Siyam’s commitment to nurturing local talent and shaping the future of Maldivian tourism. Moving forward, Sun Siyam Resorts aims to continue fostering opportunities and empowering the next generation of hospitality professionals.
