Thailand’s Maritime Tourism Growth Supported by TAT

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) reaffirmed its support for advancing marine tourism development and strengthening regional cooperation across Southeast Asia, reinforcing Thailand’s role as a regional marine tourism hub.

The agency made the announcement at the conclusion of the successful Thailand Boat Festival 2026, which took place from January 15-18 at Phuket Boat Lagoon.

The four-day international marine event united public and private stakeholders to accelerate collaborative development, showcase world-class tourism products, and expand niche markets that include yacht tourism, marinas, charter services, shore excursions, and supporting services.

This program allowed structured exchanges among operators from Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia to develop a roadmap for regional marine tourism with a focus on connectivity, standards, and sustainable growth.

TAT deputy governor for tourism products and business, Nat Kruthasoot, noted: “Thailand Boat Festival 2026 demonstrated the strength of Thailand’s marine tourism ecosystem and the importance of regional collaboration. TAT supports this platform because it strengthens connectivity and elevates tourism products while driving sustainable growth.”

Advancing marine tourism across borders

The event convened national tourism offices under the Indonesia–Malaysia–Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) framework, promoting cross-border marine tourism cooperation and seamless connectivity.

Discussions focused on unlocking Thailand’s potential as a leading marine tourism destination through workforce development and high-quality products, emphasizing the Andaman Coast as a strategic gateway linking cruise and ferry travel with Indonesia and Malaysia.

Regional perspectives and opportunities were also highlighted during panels that discussed the IMT-GT as a Dreamed Destination for Quality Yacht Experience.
