Ponant Explorations Group is gearing up to enhance its offerings in French Polynesia by deploying two ships to the region starting in late 2026 and 2027. With 25 years of operation experience through the m/s Paul Gauguin, they will introduce Le Jacques Cartier, which will target rarely visited destinations.
The upcoming itineraries will explore the Society, Tuamotu, Austral, Gambier, and Marquesas Islands, in addition to the Pitcairn Islands. This expansion is aimed at providing a comprehensive journey into some of the most secluded and culturally significant locations in French Polynesia.
Sailing into Immersive Adventures
The new itineraries focus on delivering a profound insight into Polynesian culture through activities like welcome ceremonies, interactions with local artisans, and visits to sacred locales. The m/s Paul Gauguin, a fixture in Polynesia for over twenty years, will continue to facilitate culturally rich journeys with longer stays and experiences hosted by locals.
On the other hand, Le Jacques Cartier will initiate three Discovery itineraries that can be combined to create a 42-night voyage covering six archipelagos and 23 islands.
José Sarica emphasizes the collaboration with local communities to craft unique experiences, stating, “We discovered hidden treasures, places of incredible beauty and a spirituality that is truly linked to the natural environment.”
