Akasa Air becomes a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), marking a significant achievement within just three years of its launch.
Akasa Air, India’s rapidly growing airline, has successfully joined the International Air Transport Association (IATA), a key accomplishment reached just three years after beginning operations. This membership highlights Akasa Air’s advancing role in the global aviation landscape and follows the airline’s successful completion of the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), a critical safety standard.
The inclusion of Akasa Air into IATA, which represents over 360 airlines and accounts for more than 80% of global air traffic, showcases the airline’s dedication to international safety and operational protocols. IATA is instrumental in establishing global aviation standards and promoting collaboration among airlines, regulators, and industry stakeholders worldwide.
Sheldon Hee, IATA’s Regional Vice President for the Asia-Pacific region, expressed enthusiasm regarding Akasa Air’s membership, noting India’s significant aviation potential, which sustains 7.7 million jobs and adds $53.6 billion to the economy. Hee stated, “We look forward to engaging with Akasa Air and to their active participation in shaping the airline industry’s agenda, priorities, and initiatives in India, the Asia Pacific region, and globally.”
Vinay Dube, Founder and CEO of Akasa Air, emphasized the airline’s methodical growth strategy along with its commitment to safety, operational excellence, and sustainability. “We are confident that this association will strengthen our global credibility and position Akasa as a future-ready Indian airline on the world stage,” Dube remarked.
Akasa Air’s membership in IATA will allow it to engage more effectively with international stakeholders, participate in industry dialogues, and contribute to initiatives focused on safety management, digital transformation, and sustainable aviation. This milestone marks a crucial point in Akasa Air’s development, reinforcing its part in the evolution of the global aviation industry while supporting India’s expanding role in international air travel.
