Meliá Hotels International Strengthens Its Presence in Costa del Sol with the Addition of Holiday World Resort in Benalmádena

Meliá Hotels International announces the incorporation of Holiday World Resort to enhance its hotel offerings in Málaga, featuring premium accommodations and extensive recreational facilities.

Meliá Hotels International, a leading hotel group in Spain, has announced the upcoming addition of the Holiday World Resort to its portfolio. Located in Benalmádena, one of the most iconic and sought-after destinations on the Costa del Sol, the three hotels and high-end apartments of Holiday World Resort will join Meliá’s offerings in Málaga starting March.

Owned by Grupo Peñarroya, the Holiday World Resort is a hallmark of family-friendly, all-inclusive vacationing in the region, featuring three four-star hotels - Holiday World Polynesia, Holiday World Riwo, and Holiday World Village - along with premium apartments called Casamaïa, totaling 864 rooms.

With over 20 years of experience, Holiday World has redefined vacation proposals in the area, offering a comprehensive experience that combines leisure, gastronomy, sports, and well-being. Notable facilities include a Beach Club spanning over 29,000 square meters, boasting nine pools, eleven hot tubs, including a wave pool, slides, and themed aquatic areas, ideal for family enjoyment, complemented by a diverse dining offering.

The resort is also equipped with extensive sports facilities, featuring a center of over 3,600 square meters with tennis and paddle courts, a football field, and functional training zones. Additionally, for the 2026 season, it will include four Pickleball courts, marking it as the first sports club of this discipline in a vacation hotel complex in Spain.

Each hotel within the complex has its unique character: Holiday World Polynesia draws inspiration from the exotic beauty of Polynesian islands, offering 328 rooms, including suites with jacuzzi and sea views. Its amenities include an outdoor pool, bowling alley, mini-golf, play area, wellness gym and sauna, alongside six restaurants and bars that provide a rich dining experience.

Holiday World Riwo features 148 rooms and a family-centric concept, reflected in leisure spaces such as ball parks, outdoor pools with sun decks, an amphitheater, and activities for all ages.

Holiday World Village offers 360 rooms and combines comfort and entertainment through various areas, including a recreation room with billiards, arcade games, a cinema, mini-golf, wellness gym, sauna, and a spectacular Beach Club with nine outdoor pools. Its dining options complete the experience with six restaurants and pubs, making it an ideal choice for families and groups seeking comprehensive experiences on the Costa del Sol.

Meanwhile, Casamaïa offers 28 premium apartments designed for exclusive stays, featuring categories like one-bedroom suites, penthouses, and family options. The Casamaïa Apartments also include a full spa and wellness center (Hydros Spa), a fully-equipped gym, and both indoor and outdoor pools, ensuring a complete well-being experience for those seeking high-quality comfort and services in the area.

The effective addition of the complex is expected in March, when it will be incorporated into the Meliá Hotels International portfolio and begin operating as Affiliated by Meliá Holiday World.

Gabriel Escarrer, President and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, remarked, “The Costa del Sol has always been a strategic destination for Meliá, and the addition of Holiday World Resort strengthens our commitment to quality tourism and expansion in major tourist hotspots in Spain. We are proud to add one of the most comprehensive complexes in Málaga to our offerings.”

From Holiday World, the group’s president, Pepa Peñarroya, highlighted, “This agreement marks a milestone for Holiday World, opening a new phase of growth and consolidation for our hotel project. It will also allow us to enhance our vacation offering, improve guest experiences through strategic renovations, and access new markets, supported by an ally with a solid track record and deep industry knowledge.”

With this new addition, Meliá Hotels International will have 22 hotels operational or in the process of opening in the province of Málaga, solidifying its leadership in one of Spain’s primary tourist hubs. Simultaneously, integrating Holiday World Resort into its portfolio reinforces both companies’ shared commitment to sustainable and quality tourism development in Costa del Sol and drives the evolution of the complex toward a model that is increasingly competitive, modern, and aligned with new traveler demands.
