Qatar Airways Takes a Leap with Starlink Wi-Fi on Boeing 787
Qatar Airways leads the aviation industry by integrating Starlink Wi-Fi into its Boeing 787 fleet, enhancing passenger connectivity globally.
Qatar Airways has made history as the first airline in the world to outfitting its Boeing 787-8 fleet with Starlink, a substantial advancement in aviation connectivity. The carrier has also successfully installed Starlink across its Airbus A350 jets, completing this impressive task within eight months by December 2025.
This development increases the total number of Starlink-connected widebody aircraft in Qatar Airways’ fleet to nearly 120, providing ultra-fast Wi-Fi across six continents.
The rollout of Starlink is considered the swiftest and most extensive in global aviation history. Within a mere 14 months, Qatar Airways completed installations on its Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 aircraft, expanding now to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, establishing itself as a pioneer in long-haul connectivity with over 11 million passengers having benefited since its October 2024 launch.
Passengers aboard almost 120 widebody aircraft, constituting more than 58% of the airline’s fleet, can now access high-speed internet connectivity of up to 500 Mbps. The service allows for seamless streaming, video calls, and productive work experiences that exceed many home broadband services. The airline is also amplifying this service across various routes, including those to the Americas, Australia, and key destinations in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
Qatar Airways’ dedication to enhancing customer experience is underscored by its innovative approach to integrating Starlink technology, reaffirming its status as the world’s leading airline. The airline remains the industry leader with the largest fleet of widebody aircraft equipped with Starlink, providing unmatched connectivity and ease for travelers worldwide.
