Meraas Reveals Expanded Residential Plans for Dubai Design District
Meraas has unveiled a significant residential masterplan in the Dubai Design District aimed at creating a vibrant creative neighbourhood.
Meraas, a member of Dubai Holding Real Estate, has introduced an extensive residential plan for the Dubai Design District (d3), transforming it into a vibrant creative waterfront neighbourhood. This development, covering 18 million square feet, is strategically situated between Downtown Dubai and Dubai Creek Harbour. Its objective is to enhance Dubai’s status as a global center for design, innovation, and culture, in alignment with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
The core of this masterplan is the Design Line, a pedestrian-friendly spine adorned with public art, creative displays, and green landscaped corridors, which fosters a walkable and human-centered environment. This initiative is expected to promote d3’s image as a leading design-focused urban area.
The neighbourhood will feature five distinct sections. Along the waterfront canal, modern residences paired with boutique hospitality will emerge, alongside an actively designed promenade. The urban nucleus will blend residential zones with selected retail and dining venues, thus enriching d3’s established creative ecosystem. A cultural center will include performance spaces and mid-rise living quarters, while a wellness-centric zone will provide parks and sports amenities. The final section will bolster creativity with galleries, studios, and loft-style environments.
Khalid Al Malik, CEO of Dubai Holding Real Estate, remarked, “Expanding the Dubai Design District masterplan into a fully integrated creative neighbourhood is a significant step in advancing the ambitions of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.”
This new plan aims to establish d3 as a relevant community on a global scale, cultivating an environment where creativity influences daily life and draws the world’s creative talent.
