TCEB Unveils Bold Carbon Reduction Initiative for Events by 2030

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) plans to cut carbon emissions significantly in the MICE industry, aiming for a reduction of 20,000 TonCO₂e by 2030.

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has made an ambitious commitment aimed at reducing carbon emissions by 20,000 TonCO₂e by the year 2030. This strategic initiative underscores TCEB’s position as a leader in sustainable practices within the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector. This goal follows a notable reduction of 2,445.97 TonCO₂e across 232 events in the financial year 2025, representing a 313% increase in reduction from the previous year.

TCEB President Supawan Teerarat stated that this initiative aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and supports Thailand’s national development strategy. “Thailand is advancing sustainability from aspiration to achievement,” she emphasized, highlighting the integration of sustainable practices into every element of the MICE industry to elevate Thailand’s competitive edge as a leading MICE destination.

To realize these targets, TCEB has updated its criteria for event planners, enforcing the integration of carbon-neutral planning and encouraging the use of carbon credits from Thai greenhouse gas reduction initiatives. Event organizers are equipped with tools, including a carbon footprint avoidance calculator and the Zero Carbon application, developed by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation, to efficiently monitor and counteract emissions.

Supawan remarked, “This commitment reflects TCEB’s readiness to meet the evolving expectations of the global business community and our dedication to assisting international clients in organizing sustainable, impactful events in Thailand.” By providing these resources to organizers, TCEB aspires to cultivate a culture of accountability and ongoing enhancement in sustainable event management.
