
PATA Nepal Chapter Celebrates Half a Century of Tourism
The PATA Nepal Chapter marked its 50th anniversary, commemorating its influence on tourism development in the region.
The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Nepal Chapter marked its 50th anniversary on December 29, 2025, at the Royal Tulip Kathmandu, a significant milestone celebrating its contributions to Nepal’s tourism development via public-private partnerships.
The event saw the presence of senior government officials, tourism leaders, and industry professionals reflecting on the Chapter’s achievements since its founding in 1975.
Honorable Anil Kumar Sinha, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, inaugurated the ceremony praising PATA Nepal Chapter’s role in tourism planning and policy advocacy, along with recovery efforts. In a video message, PATA CEO Noor Ahmad Hameed commended the Chapter’s exemplary contributions within the global PATA framework.
The event showcased cultural performances by PATA Nepal Chapter’s Young Tourism Professionals, emphasizing Nepal’s rich heritage. Chairman Khem Lakai expressed gratitude to past and present leaders and partners for their enduring support.
A commemorative video titled “Reflections on 50 Years of the Public–Private Partnership Journey of PATA Nepal Chapter” highlighted pivotal milestones. Remarks from Dipendra Purus Dhakal, Mukund Prasad Niraula, Prabin Pandey, and Deepak Raj Joshi highlighted the Chapter’s positive impact on sustainable tourism.
Additionally, the PATA Nepal Chapter Annual Awards 2025 were presented to individuals like Karna Sakya and Shiva Dhakal for their notable contributions to tourism and sustainability. The Golden Jubilee reaffirmed PATA Nepal Chapter’s commitment to advancing sustainable tourism while celebrating its legacy of partnership and leadership.
