Pegasus Airlines Signs Agreement for CFM Engines for Boeing 737-10 Fleet

Pegasus Airlines has secured a significant deal with CFM International for LEAP-1B engines to enhance its Boeing 737-10 fleet, aiming for increased fuel efficiency and lower emissions.

Pegasus Airlines Pulls Off Major Engine Deal

Pegasus Airlines has signed an agreement with CFM International for up to 300 LEAP-1B engines to power its upcoming Boeing 737-10 fleet. This deal, which includes spare engines along with a long-term maintenance agreement, aligns with Pegasus’ goals of enhancing fuel efficiency and reducing emissions. These engines are set to support deliveries from Pegasus Airlines’ largest aircraft order so far, announced in December 2024.

The LEAP-1B engines are anticipated to play a crucial role in helping Pegasus achieve its target of reducing CO₂ emissions by 2030, aligning with the aviation industry’s goal of attaining net-zero CO₂ emissions by 2050. CEO Güliz Öztürk expressed high expectations for the LEAP engine family, stating,

“We have been extremely pleased with the operation of the LEAP engine family and look forward to bringing the same performance and stability to our Boeing 737-10 fleet.”

CFM International’s CEO Gaël Méheust also emphasized the significance of this partnership, noting,

“This agreement marks a significant expansion in our very long and successful relationship with Pegasus.”

Pegasus Airlines made history in 2016 by becoming the world’s first LEAP engine operator and continues to grow its fleet with next-generation aircraft powered by LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines. With an average fleet age of just 4.9 years, Pegasus boasts one of the youngest fleets on the globe.

The innovative LEAP engines are renowned for providing 15% greater fuel efficiency and producing 15% lower carbon emissions compared to older models, reinforcing Pegasus’ commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.
