SriLankan Airlines is gearing up to welcome Indian travellers this winter, enhancing connectivity and convenience for those seeking to explore the island’s diverse attractions. The airline, in collaboration with tourism stakeholders, is ensuring reliable access from India, with nearly 90 weekly flights from nine Indian cities, including Chennai, Mumbai, and Delhi.
Sri Lanka offers a rich tapestry of experiences, from the vibrant coastal hotspots of Colombo and Galle to the historical marvels of the Cultural Triangle, such as the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. The island’s appeal is further heightened during December and January, considered ideal months for beach holidays and wildlife viewing, including blue whale watching in Mirissa.
Dimuthu Tennakoon, Head of Commercial at SriLankan Airlines, highlighted the peak travel season, stating, “December and January are among the best months to visit Sri Lanka, with ideal weather for beach holidays and exploring the Cultural Triangle.”
The airline’s extensive network covers 120 destinations worldwide, facilitating onward travel to regions like the Maldives and Europe.
Asoka Hettigoda, President of The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka, noted the smooth operation of hotels across the island, welcoming 25,000 tourists currently enjoying their stay. With Sri Lanka’s renowned warmth and hospitality, the tourism industry remains committed to providing unforgettable experiences for Indian visitors.
