Luxury expedition cruise company PONANT EXPLORATIONS GROUP has announced its acquisition of a majority stake in the award-winning small-ship expedition company Aqua Expeditions.

Aqua Expeditions is renowned for its exceptional river and ocean cruises in South America, Southeast Asia, and beyond. Currently, Aqua Expeditions operates small ships in biodiversity hotspots including the Galápagos, Raja Ampat, Komodo, Spice Islands, the Mekong River, and the Peruvian Amazon.

Key to Expansion

This strategic acquisition aims to bolster Aqua Expeditions’ global footprint and enhance its growth as a destination specialist. What Happens Now?

Zugaro will continue as a shareholder and lead the company as a stand-alone business unit under the Aqua Expeditions brand. This acquisition is timely as Aqua Expeditions plans to launch its East Africa itineraries, focusing on the Seychelles and Tanzania, particularly the Aldabra group of islands.
