Xiamen Port Reinitiates Direct Yacht Services
Xiamen Port has resumed its direct yacht services to Hong Kong, marking an important development in cross-border exchanges and economic growth for the region.
Following a six-year pause, Xiamen Port officially resumed direct yacht services on November 23rd as the yacht Bao Hai Hui journeyed to Hong Kong. This reinstatement enhances cross-border exchanges between Xiamen and Hong Kong while advancing the diversification of the port’s business operations.
As of November 15th, Xiamen Port has welcomed 15 cruises, hosting nearly 30,000 passengers, with the cruise economy gaining traction. This integration is crucial for air travel, the Xiamen-Kinmen “Mini Three Links”, cruise ships, and yachts. The Bao Hai Hui carried three professionals from the yachting industry, taking turns navigating the yacht.
The voyage of 285 nautical miles to Hong Kong took about 19 hours, with Captain Hou Hui stating: “The customs clearance process is efficient and smooth, allowing us to board directly after the procedures. This flexible travel option suits our needs perfectly.”
This resumption represents a significant step in the ongoing diversification of Xiamen’s port operations. Moreover, Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport is a vital hub for cross-border travel.
The recent development has been bolstered by a new shipping route launched by StarCruises’ Star Voyager connecting Hong Kong and Xiamen to further strengthen collaboration within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
