Key Findings from ABTA’s Travel Trends Report 2026

ABTA has identified individuals aged 25-34 as pivotal in shaping current travel norms. This demographic prioritizes vacations more than any other age group, with 83% considering holidays as the most significant times of the year.

  • High Travel Intent: 84% of 25-34 year olds plan to travel overseas in the coming year, significantly higher than the average of 70%.
  • Vacation Valuation: On average, this group takes 5.5 holidays a year, including 2.2 international trips.
  • Spending Boom: Nearly half (49%) expect to increase their holiday budget in the next year.
  • Mental Health Benefits: 90% of this age group highlights the importance of vacations for mental wellness.
  • Cruise Popularity: 19% of these travelers went on a cruise in the last year, the highest percentage among all groups.
  • Rise of September Travel: Interest in travel during September has surged, rising from 17% in 2023 to 24% in 2025, indicating a shift away from peak summer months for trips.
