Eve Air Mobility Chooses BETA Technologies as Provider of Pusher Motors
Eve Air Mobility collaborates with BETA Technologies for electric pusher motors, enhancing its production capabilities and reinforcing its commitment to advanced technology.
Eve Air Mobility has partnered with BETA Technologies to procure electric pusher motors for its prototypes and production aircraft. This strategic alliance is aimed at bolstering Eve’s supply chain, correspondingly addressing an existing backlog of 2,800 eVTOLs. The collaboration signifies a prospective ten-year partnership that could yield up to $1 billion for BETA, reinforcing Eve’s commitment both to innovative technologies and to achieving mission requirements.
Following an evaluation period, Eve has successfully tested BETA motors in its Engineering Prototype, gearing up for its inaugural flight anticipated late this year or early 2026.
“Integrating Beta Technologies into our supply chain is a pivotal milestone in advancing our eVTOL program,” said Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve Air Mobility. “Their technology will be crucial for powering our aircraft in cruise mode, enhancing our propulsion architecture as we move closer to service entry.”
BETA specializes in designing and manufacturing high-efficiency electric propulsion systems, favoring higher power-to-weight ratios than traditional engines, ensuring safety and cost efficiency through simpler designs.
Kyle Clark, CEO of BETA, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing the effectiveness of their electric motors in prior operations and their capability for large-scale manufacturing tailored to Eve’s needs.
The agreement with BETA represents Eve’s strategy to work with leading aerospace innovators to power its aircraft, fortifying a network of renowned suppliers like BAE Systems, Honeywell Aerospace, and Garmin.
Eve’s eVTOL aircraft employs a lift + cruise configuration, featuring eight propellers for vertical flight and fixed wings for cruising. This design promises minimal noise, reduced operational costs, and streamlined maintenance.
As Eve embarks on this next phase of development, it will conduct rigorous tests to ensure the aircraft’s performance and safety.
