The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) conducted the recent edition of the PATA Destination Marketing Forum (PDMF) on December 3rd at the Heritage Hotel and Convention in Chiang Rai, Thailand. This marks the fifth occasion Thailand has hosted this event, which underscores its reputation as a premier destination for MICE events (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions).
The forum centers around the theme: Steeped in Tradition, Rooted in Wellness: Weaving the Meaningful Narrative of Travel. This year’s discussions aim to educate tourism professionals about sustainable and regenerative tourism practices in their respective regions, while also addressing the increasing global interest in wellness tourism.
The event was officially inaugurated by Napintom Srisunpang, Minister attached to the Office of the Prime Minister of Thailand, who praised PATA for recognizing the potential of Thailand’s secondary cities, and commended the Chiang Rai government for its capability to host such a significant gathering.
The PDMF expects to attract over 300 delegates from around the world, with discussions focusing on how destination marketing is evolving, influenced by the rising demand for sustainable and wellness-oriented attractions and services.
