
Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), recognized as India’s largest hospitality group, has disclosed plans for a Ginger hotel in Shillong, which will be the brand’s first establishment in Meghalaya. This venture is part of a greenfield project.
Suma Venkatesh, the Executive Vice President for Real Estate & Development at IHCL, remarked:
“Shillong, with its vibrant spirit, resonates with Ginger’s philosophy of blending work and play. Under the Smart City program, Shillong is evolving into a significant administrative and economic hub. Its prime location, coupled with panoramic views of the hills, makes it an ideal setting for the brand to serve the city’s evolving hospitality needs. We are delighted to partner with Mr. Khongsngi for this project.”

The Ginger Shillong will offer 90 keys and feature the brand’s signature all-day dining restaurant Qmin, a stylish bar, a meeting room, and a fitness center, catering to both business and leisure travelers.

Regarded as the Scotland of the East, Shillong harmoniously blends colonial charm with the rich Khasi culture. Famous for its hilly terrains and temperate climate, the city hosts the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival and prominent sites like Umiam Lake and Elephant Falls.
With this addition, IHCL will operate three hotels in Meghalaya, including one that is currently under construction.
