Sunway Hotels & Resorts collaborates with Saxon Renewables to launch a carbon offset program, enabling guests to manage their environmental impact during stays.

Partnership Overview

Sunway Hotels & Resorts, a renowned Malaysian hospitality group with a presence across Malaysia, Cambodia, and Vietnam, has entered into a partnership with Saxon Renewables, a leading climate solutions provider in Asia. Together, they have introduced a Voluntary Guest Carbon Offset Programme that enables eco-conscious travellers to minimize their carbon footprint during their hotel stays.

Program Details

Guests are invited to make a voluntary donation while booking their accommodations online or at check-in, which directly supports certified carbon reduction initiatives by Saxon Renewables. All projects benefit from reputable certifications such as Verra and Gold Standard, ensuring significant environmental impact resulting from guest contributions.

Moving Forward

This initiative is aligned with Sunway’s long-standing commitment to sustainability, including various energy efficiency and waste reduction measures. The Group’s efforts include the implementation of LED lighting, smart energy management systems, low-flow water fixtures, and programs aimed at reducing single-use plastics.

With plans to roll out the carbon offset program across all its hotels by Q1 2026, Sunway aims to offset carbon emissions by up to 500 tonnes in the program’s first year. This move is in response to the increasing trend among travellers prioritizing sustainable practices in their travel plans.
