The introduction of wide-body aircraft operations at Bohol-Panglao International Airport expands its capacity for tourism and international connectivity.
Bohol–Panglao International Airport (BPIA) celebrated the inauguration of wide-body aircraft operations on Sunday, November 16, highlighted by the arrival of a 459-seat A330 operated by Cebu Pacific. This advancement showcases the airport’s ability to host larger aircraft.
Aboitiz Operating Airports Chief Operating Officer Terence Delomoney stated: “The arrival of the A330 demonstrates our commitment to elevating BPIA to world-class standards.”

“El arribo del A330 demuestra nuestro compromiso de elevar BPIA a estándares de clase mundial.”
Delomoney further noted that the operational capacity boosts airlines’ options for direct flights and enhances the travel experience, promoting Bohol’s scenic beauty and culture.
Enhancements Underway
The operator of BPIA, Aboitiz InfraCapital Bohol Airport Corporation (ABAC), has been engaged in improvements and compliance checks in recent months. Collaborations with regulatory bodies have focused on upgrading safety equipment and training additional personnel, securing necessary firefighting certifications, essential for the safe handling of larger jets like the A330.
The inclusion of wide-body flights enables the airport to manage a rise in tourism arrivals, explore new international routes, and encourage increased commercial activities. Furthermore, the expanded capacity aligns with the growing visitor interest in Bohol, providing greater operational flexibility for airlines during peak seasons.
