AirAsia Initiates 'To the Philippines with Love' Initiative for Disaster Relief
AirAsia pledges PHP15 for every ticket sold to aid disaster recovery in the Philippines until January 14, 2026.
AirAsia recently launched its To the Philippines with Love initiative as a way of supporting regional resilience within ASEAN.
This program aims to assist recovery efforts from recent natural disasters that afflicted the Philippines, particularly the severe earthquake in Cebu and Typhoon Kalmaegi. AirAsia commits to donating PHP15 for each ticket sold until January 14, 2026, to help local typhoon relief and recovery efforts.
One ASEAN Family
“Connectivity has always been at the heart of what we do, and it goes beyond flights or routes. As one ASEAN family, in times like these, uniting to help one another is not just the right thing to do, it is who we are. Our hearts are with everyone affected in the Philippines, including our own Allstars. We hope AirAsia’s contribution can bring hope, and help rebuild businesses and enable local residents to get back on their feet,” stated Capital A chief executive and AirAsia Aviation Group advisor Tony Fernandes.
The donations will be channeled through the AirAsia Foundation, aiming to support reconstruction projects, emphasizing the importance of community infrastructure and awareness to enhance vulnerable communities’ preparedness for future disasters.
AirAsia Foundation’s executive director, Yap Mun Ching, highlighted: “At AirAsia Foundation, one of our main priorities is to help communities rebuild stronger after a disaster. As focus shifts from emergency relief to recovery, we connect resources with communities in need.”
Recent beneficiaries of the Foundation’s disaster resilience grants include Bike Scouts, known for their robust response to disasters, which aim to improve communication for communities impacted by natural events.
Furthermore, in 2025, AirAsia Foundation provided a grant to Arkomjogja to disseminate knowledge about community-driven recovery models based on their experiences in Indonesia.
Since its inception in 2012, the AirAsia Foundation has successfully raised and distributed over US$4 million for various disaster responses and has awarded substantial grants to social enterprises across ASEAN countries for sustainable development initiatives.
Additionally, AirAsia continues to provide support for government partners through humanitarian flights, aiding rescue efforts in Cebu by transporting essential personnel and equipment.
