Mandarin Oriental Expands its Presence with a New Waterfront Hotel in Jeddah

Mandarin Oriental is set to open a luxury hotel and residences in Jeddah Central by 2030, enhancing Saudi Arabia's hospitality sector.

Major Expansion of Mandarin Oriental in Jeddah

Mandarin Oriental has unveiled notable plans for its expansion in the Middle East by announcing the launch of a new luxury hotel and branded residences due to open in Jeddah Central by 2030. This initiative represents a significant investment in Saudi Arabia’s rapidly developing Red Sea coastline.

The Development: The project will be managed in collaboration with the Jeddah Central Development Company and will be at the heart of Jeddah Central, a vibrant waterfront revitalization area boasting luxurious residential developments, cultural spaces, and key landmarks including an opera house, oceanarium, museum, and stadium.

Architectural Vision: This new establishment, designed by the global architecture firm KPF, aims to provide unobstructed views of the Red Sea, creating a luxurious urban retreat that combines coastal beauty with cultural influences. Bruce Fisher, Principal at KPF, expressed that they hope to create a retreat that emphasizes harmony between local architectural traditions and modern seaside experiences.

Accommodations and Amenities: The Mandarin Oriental will feature 140 rooms and suites, complemented by 115 serviced apartments designed for long-term guests. Additionally, there will be 187 branded residences offering exclusive amenities, including a lounge, cinema, library, entertainment areas, a golf simulator, children’s club, swimming pool, and fitness center, along with personalized services.

Dining and Wellness: The property is set to introduce five dining options—including signature culinary experiences—and expansive event spaces anchored by a large ballroom. Wellness will play a crucial role, featuring The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, offering a broad range of holistic and therapeutic treatments, while a kids’ club and crèche are also planned to foster an inviting family-oriented atmosphere.

Company Insights: Laurent Kleitman remarked that this project showcases the brand’s faith in Saudi Arabia’s thriving tourism sector, noting, “This development demonstrates our commitment to high-quality craftsmanship and design excellence aligned with KPF’s vision of sustainability.”

Eng. Ahmed Al Sulaim highlighted this collaboration as pivotal in developing Jeddah Central as a prominent global coastal destination, reaffirming their commitment to redefine urban living along the Red Sea.

As Jeddah welcomes approximately six million annual visitors, this new hotel not only enhances the city’s luxury hospitality landscape but also amplifies international confidence in Jeddah Central’s potential to emerge as a landmark.
