
MAG Appoints Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar as President and Group CEO
Malaysia Aviation Group has appointed Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar as its new President and Group CEO, succeeding the former managing director.
The Board of Directors of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has appointed Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar (known as Captain Nasa) as President and Group Chief Executive Officer, succeeding the former Group Managing Director.
Captain Nasa, a home-grown leader with over three decades of experience in flight operations, management, and strategic roles within MAG, has held several leadership positions, most recently as Chief Operating Officer of Malaysia Airlines. He brings extensive experience and a deep understanding of MAG’s business, having led initiatives such as the turnaround of MASwings in 2022 and the implementation of profit-driven structures under the Long-Term Business Plan 2.0 (LTBP2.0).
As President and Group CEO, Captain Nasa will oversee MAG’s strategic priorities, aiming for operational excellence, enhanced customer experience, and sustainable growth across its airline and non-airline operations while advancing LTBP3.0.
Captain Nasa’s appointment is a critical milestone for MAG, providing continuity in leadership across the Group’s diverse business portfolio. He will work alongside a strong management team across the Group’s three profit centres: Airline Business, Loyalty and Travel Services, and Aviation Services.
Dato’ Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir, Board Member of MAG, expressed gratitude to Datuk Captain Izham for his significant contributions during his tenure, emphasizing his commitment and leadership which have been pivotal in guiding MAG through transformative periods.
