Andalucía Set to Host the International Women's Golf Championship at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España 2025
The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España, a prominent event in the Ladies European Tour, will take place from November 27 to 30, showcasing Andalucía's commitment to sports tourism.
From November 27 to 30, the Real Guadalhorce Golf Club in Málaga will host the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho, marking the end of the season for the Ladies European Tour. The support from Andalucía as the main sponsor reinforces the strategic goal of establishing the region as a leader in sports tourism, promoting off-peak seasons, and associating the brand with an event that garners international attention every year.
The 2024 edition demonstrated strong visibility and audience results: 12 hours of live coverage, international distribution to 87 countries, and a potential reach of 143.875 million households, estimating an audience of over 240 million globally. At the venue, the tournament attracted 10,750 attendees, accredited 86 media outlets, and engaged 125 volunteers, generating over 350 jobs related to the competition week with a direct economic impact quantified at €623,700. These indicators confirm the return on sponsorship and the attractiveness of the destination in key markets.
This performance aligns with the state of golf in Andalucía, a strategic sector contributing €5.456 billion annually and supporting 51,000 jobs (including direct, indirect, and induced). Approximately 700,000 golf tourists visit yearly, spending €1.757 billion directly; about 85% of that expenditure occurs off the course (accommodation, dining, and transportation). The October-November window coincides with the peak golfing season in the region, amplifying the Open’s effect on occupancy and supplemental spending.
In sporting terms, 2024 offered a powerful narrative for the destination: Carlota Ciganda clinched her second Open de España at Guadalhorce after a thrilling final round, with amateur Andrea Revuelta honored with the Celia Barquín Award for best amateur. A national victory and an outstanding performance from Spanish talent that enhance the association between Andalucía and the best women’s golf in Europe.
As a recent precedent of major female events in the Costa del Sol, the Solheim Cup 2023 showcased the region’s drawing power and projection: public estimates placed its global economic impact around €400-500 million; 65,010 spectators were noted on-site during the week, along with 465 accredited journalists. This ‘demonstration effect’ reinforces the context in which the Open is growing and Andalucía’s commitment to women’s golf.
With Andalucía as the primary sponsor alongside Turismo Costa del Sol, Málaga and the Real Guadalhorce Golf Club will once again showcase a tournament that combines elite sports, measurable returns, and destination promotion. The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho 2025 will once again serve as an international platform for Andalucía’s leadership in the sports tourism industry.
