Delta Cuts Flights as Directed by FAA

Delta Airlines is reducing flights at 40 major U.S. airports in adherence to FAA and Department of Transportation guidelines.

Delta Cuts Flights in Compliance with FAA Directive

Delta Airlines is following directives from the FAA and the U.S. Department of Transportation by implementing reductions in flight operations across 40 key airports in the United States.

Delta Flight

Delta has completed all FAA-mandated flight cancellations planned up until Tuesday, November 11. Given the additional constraints due to staffing shortages in Air Traffic Control, the airline anticipates further operational delays and cancellations.

As of November 9, there were over 320 cancellations for Delta mainline flights along with 150 from Delta Connection by noon ET. Cancelations are a last resort after other options are explored.

Important Information for Delta Customers:

  • Increased Flexibility: Passengers traveling to, from, or through affected markets will be allowed to change, cancel, or receive refunds on their flights without penalty, even for Delta Main Basic fares. Details can be found here.
  • Flight Status: Check your flight status or explore alternative options via delta.com or the Fly Delta app.

These measures are in response to staffing shortages exacerbated by the current government shutdown and are necessary to uphold safety in the national airspace system.
