South African Tourism has kicked off the fifth installment of its notable corporate engagement initiative called ‘Corporate Think Tank’, with Chennai marking the second location for this leg. The event attracted over 20 corporate leaders, fostering discussions and exploring collaboration opportunities.

Designed to enhance partnerships between South African Tourism and India’s corporate sector, this series aims to facilitate enriching discussions, destination showcases, and networking sessions, highlighting South Africa’s growing status as a prime destination for MICE and leisure travel.

Chennai, with its strong industrial sector, robust automobile industry, and booming travel segment, has been identified as a focus market. The event led by Deepika Nair, highlighted South Africa’s positioning as a premier MICE destination bolstered by improved flight connectivity and more straightforward visa processes.

The Corporate Think Tank functions as a vital platform for engaging with India’s corporate leaders to understand their evolving travel needs and priorities. Gcobani Mancotywa expressed enthusiasm about engaging with Chennai’s industrial sector and the promising discussions that reinforce Chennai’s status as pivotal for South Africa’s MICE growth.

With a significant portion of India’s population aged between 15 and 54, the MICE market is expected to expand, propelled by increased corporate expenditure on international events and improving global connectivity. As South Africa emerges as a top choice for MICE travel, it offers diverse and enriching experiences from adventure activities to wildlife safaris, enhancing its appeal for Indian businesses seeking memorable travel opportunities.
