Digital travel platform Agoda’s latest report on travel trends for the Thai school holidays highlights an increased interest for both domestic and international destinations.
Key Findings:
- Family travel interest to Seoul has surged during the October school break, with a 33% year-on-year increase in searches, overtaking Shanghai as the fastest-growing destination.
- Tokyo remains the top pick for Thai families, reinforcing its position for the second consecutive year.
- Overall outbound travel from Thailand saw a 3% increase this school holiday compared to last year.
According to Akaporn Rodkong, Agoda’s country director in Thailand:
“School holidays are such a special time for families to reconnect and make lasting memories. At Agoda, we truly understand how precious these moments are, which is why our platform is designed to help families explore the world with ease and confidence… ”
Exploring family-friendly offerings, Seoul stands out with its vibrant cultural scenes and attractions appealing to all age groups. Interestingly, the growth in interest may be influenced by the immense global popularity of cultural exports, including shows like K-Pop Demon Hunters.
Conversely, Tokyo continues to lure families with its pleasant autumn weather and an array of attractions such as Tokyo Disneyland and Ueno Zoo.
Thai families also show significant interest in local trips, with beach destinations like Pattaya and Hua Hin becoming increasingly popular this season. Notably, accommodation searches for these spots are up by 26% compared to last year.
