As the first-ever Global City Tourism Summit (GCTS) opened today, October 27, in Busan, South Korea, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism deputy director Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu organized the Vietnam Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Programme.
This new initiative is built upon the developmental framework presented during the GCTS. Its goals are to enhance the promotion of both Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam as a travel destination, improve cooperation relations, and keep up with global tourism development trends.
The program also seeks to reinforce ties and foster collaboration in culture, tourism, trade, and investment with Busan, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of their relationship.
Beyond Mere Promotion
The Vietnam – Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Promotion Programme is not just another marketing strategy, but a strategic move to solidify Ho Chi Minh City’s position on the Asian and global tourism map. Key objectives include:
- Promoting Vietnam – Ho Chi Minh City tourism to international partners in Busan.
- Engaging with new global tourism trends, focusing on innovation, sustainable tourism, and cultural branding to align with the city’s tourism development goals.
- Establishing partnerships with Busan tourism entities to find quality buyers for the International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City (ITE HCMC) 2026.
- Networking with Korean partners and members of the Tourism Promotion Organization for Global Cities (TPO) to discuss strategic directions and cooperation opportunities.
This aims to position Ho Chi Minh City as a pivotal player in the global tourism market.
