Philippine Tourism Department Aims to Attract More Visitors from India

The Philippines expects to increase its appeal to Indian tourists following a notable rise in arrivals.

The Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) recently highlighted the promising increase in Indian tourist arrivals at the 12th ASEAN-India Tourism Ministers Meeting, held on January 20.

In 2024, nearly 80,000 Indian tourists visited the Philippines, marking a 12% increase compared to the previous year.

According to Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco, “This number, while smaller than that of our ASEAN neighbors, indicates significant growth. We view India’s outbound tourism market as having tremendous potential, and we are dedicated to positioning the Philippines as a prime destination for Indian tourists.”

She mentioned that Indian travelers will particularly enjoy the country’s award-winning beaches, diving spots, and popular wedding venues such as Cebu.

Digital Visas for Indian Visitors

The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has also initiated the introduction of electronic visas for Indian nationals last year, aiming to simplify the visa application process. Frasco stated,

“We are optimistic that Air India will soon launch direct flights connecting Indian cities to Philippine destinations including Manila, Boracay, Clark, and Cebu.”
