Picnic Island Introduces Custom Luxury Vessel

Picnic Island announces the launch of a bespoke luxury vessel purposed for exclusive marine experiences at its private retreat.

Picnic Island has proudly introduced a custom-built luxury vessel designed for exclusive outings to its private island locale. This new vessel will facilitate seamless transportation between the island and the mainland while also offering unique marine adventures.

From personalized wildlife viewing to exclusive excursions, this vessel aims to enhance guests’ experiences on the water while prioritizing their comfort and safety.

Set to enter service alongside the island’s reopening in January 2026, the vessel promises to provide a travel experience as sophisticated as the island itself.

Mark Israel, a co-owner, remarked: “The journey to Picnic Island has always been part of the experience, but now it becomes a memorable moment itself. This vessel embodies our philosophy of quiet luxury: sophisticated engineering and thoughtful design that speaks quietly, but leaves a lasting impression.”

Elisa Yu, another co-owner, stated: “We wanted our guests’ first impression of Picnic Island to reflect the same values they’ll encounter throughout their stay: authentic luxury, nature connection, and genuine care for their comfort. From the moment guests step aboard, this vessel delivers exclusive access to Tasmania’s marine environment on every excursion.”

Luxury by Design
In collaboration with Tasmania’s VanDiemen Luxury Craft, the vessel showcases a significant investment in both guest experience and operational excellence. This 7.5-meter convertible superyacht accommodates up to 10 passengers and includes 2 crew members.

With its innovative convertible design, guests can enjoy panoramic views in the enclosed configuration while being shielded from wind and spray, or opt for an open-air experience perfect for wildlife photography in its sports configuration.

The custom specifications include a shallow draft for easy access to the island’s jetty in varying tide conditions and a bow thruster for precision navigation around the island. Powered by twin Volvo Penta D4-260 engines, the vessel emphasizes fuel efficiency and reliability, ensuring a smooth experience even in rough seas. Safety features include stability enhancements and comprehensive navigation equipment. This well-designed vessel also prioritizes guest comfort and accessibility.
