Launch of Sun PhuQuoc Airways Marks a New Chapter in Vietnamese Aviation

Sun Group officially launched its airline Sun PhuQuoc Airways at a ceremony in Hanoi on October 15. This new airline represents Vietnam’s first resort airline, aiming to revolutionize lifestyle aviation in the country.

Strategic Vision
According to Dang Minh Truong, the chairman of Sun Group, the airline’s goal is to enhance travel access to Phu Quoc via direct flights, thereby integrating seamlessly into the group’s comprehensive tourism ecosystem. The airline aims to facilitate travel connections for visitors worldwide.

Sales & Operations
Official ticket sales have commenced on the airline’s website, with flights scheduled to start on November 1. The airline, named after Vietnam’s iconic Pearl Island, is positioned as a major player in the region’s tourism, especially with the upcoming 2027 APEC Summit on Phu Quoc Island, which is anticipated to boost air travel demand significantly.

Ceremonial Launch
The launch event, themed ‘Symphony of the Sun’, created an immersive experience, symbolizing the company’s ambitions to soar high within the aviation sector through art and culture.

Operational Plans
The airline is fully operational, having established safety protocols and a comprehensive route network with Phu Quoc as its hub. Initial routes will include Phu Quoc to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang, among other domestic flights. Furthermore, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has awarded the necessary licenses for the airline’s operations, with three aircraft already in service and plans to expand the fleet to 25 aircraft by 2026.
