
Sri Lanka Tourism has intensified its promotional efforts towards Indian travelers by showcasing the country’s diverse tourism attractions. In a series of events held in Madurai, Coimbatore, and Chennai on October 6, 8, and 10, 2025, more than 400 travel agents and tour operators attended, along with over 39 Sri Lankan stakeholders.
These roadshows, organized by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) and Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB), aimed to promote Sri Lanka as a year-round destination for all kinds of tourists.
The events highlight Sri Lanka’s tourism industry and promote collaboration between travel partners in India and Sri Lanka.
Highlights:
- India’s contribution: India has consistently remained the top source market for Sri Lanka, making up 22% of total tourist arrivals. During the first nine months of 2025, Sri Lanka welcomed 1,725,494 tourists, with 375,292 from India, marking a significant growth in tourism connectivity.
- Sri Lanka’s tourism revenue exceeded USD 2.3 billion by August 2025, emphasizing the importance of Indian travelers to the Sri Lankan economy.
- The events featured various tourism offerings, from beautiful landscapes to rich cultural experiences, encouraging Indian travelers to revisit the island nation.
