IndiGo Introduces Thrice-Weekly Direct Flights from Mumbai to Copenhagen

IndiGo has launched its direct long-haul service connecting Mumbai and Copenhagen, expanding its international routes.

IndiGo initiated its direct long-haul service connecting Mumbai and Copenhagen, Denmark, marking the airline’s entry into the Scandinavian region of Europe. This follows successful long-haul launches to Manchester and Amsterdam in July 2025. IndiGo operates thrice-weekly flights on this route using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft leased from Norse Atlantic Airways, offering a dual-class configuration, including Economy Class and IndiGoStretch, IndiGo’s tailored business offering. Copenhagen becomes IndiGo’s fourth European destination after Istanbul, Manchester, and Amsterdam, with expected future additions of London and Athens, thereby enhancing IndiGo’s global presence and commitment to improving connectivity to key international destinations.

The direct connection boosts travel between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai, and Copenhagen Airport, which is one of Europe’s oldest and Scandinavia’s busiest international airports. It plays a crucial role due to the increasing ties between India and Northern Europe, facilitating trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. This direct connection offers Indian travelers seamless access to destinations across the Nordic region, while also expanding IndiGo’s extensive Indian network of over 90 domestic destinations to Scandinavian travelers.

Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer of IndiGo, remarked: “With the launch of our third long-haul route between Mumbai and Copenhagen, IndiGo unlocks a strategic gateway to the Nordic region as we deepen our presence in Europe. This is vital for our global growth.”

E. Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, Ambassador of Denmark to India, commented: “This new route is a clear indicator of the strong partnership between Denmark and India. Enhanced connectivity will promote cultural and economic relationships.”

Manish Prabhat, Ambassador of India to Denmark, said: “The IndiGo connection indicates the growing ties between India and Denmark. Since the announcement of the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership in 2020, relations in business, culture, and tourism have expanded significantly.”

Christian Poulsen, CEO of Copenhagen Airports A/S, expressed: “We are excited to welcome IndiGo at Copenhagen Airport. The new route reinforces Copenhagen’s position as Northern Europe’s leading transport hub.”
